Since we have almost completed House Hunt 2005 I figured I would post a preliminary picture of our house. As you can see it is not quite done yet. This picture was taken last week and it is pretty much finished as of yesterday (the gutters were being installed, cleaning people coming this weekend, and seeding should be done today).

We are quite impressed with the quality work our builder has done (Appletech Inc) and with our lender (Capitol Federal Savings, specifically Penny Nelson). And we have loved working with our real estate agent Stacey Hoffman of Hallmark Homes.
If everthing goes according to plan we will be all moved by the end of the month and then the fun process of unpacking, landscaping, and fence building will begin.

While half-watching the morning news I heard a mention of a poll (which I cannot locate online) that found that Americans number 1 concern is the high price of gas. While I agree that I hate paying that much for gas I have to see this in a different light. What was our number one concern the last part of 2001 and all through 2002? That’s right, terrorism. When put in perspective, aren’t you glad we have high gas prices to distract us from our fears?
And on a separate issue, I am getting really bored with the inflated stature that the media gives the President of the United States and his ability to control things … like gas prices. Seriously, what could he do? Institute a national price cap? Doubtful that such a thing would be constitutional or even a good idea. Open up the oil reserves? From what I hear that is a bad idea because it won’t effect the price much and it puts our national security at risk (by that I mean we might be forced into more confrontation in oil rich areas to make sure we don’t run out of gas for our tanks, planes, etc.). I suppose he could do what many critics were claiming he was doing in Iraq, invade a country and take their oil. Ok, the rant is done, just had to get it off my chest.
